Support Unit Classes
Our dedicated comprehensive support unit classes are located within our mainstream setting at Albion Park Rail PS, designed to meet the unique needs of our diverse student population.
Our unit encompasses six specialised classes tailored for various learning requirements, ensuring that each student receives the support they need to thrive academically and socially.
Class Offerings
We have two classes specifically designed for students on the autism spectrum.
Our classes provide a structured, predictable environment that directly address the sensory, communication, and social learning needs of students.
Students are taught a modified curriculum - supported by their teacher and SLSO - and are supported to integrate with mainstream for whole school events, excursions, assemblies and within the school environment.
We have two classes with 18 students, a teacher and an SLSO in each room.
The classes cater to students with intellectual disabilities, providing a structured learning environment that promotes independence and life skills, alongside academic learning, social growth and inclusion into whole school activities.
We have two MC classes that accommodate students with a range of needs.
These classes allow for flexibility in curriculum and support approaches, recognising that students with complex profiles often need a range of strategies to support their individual needs.
Within our support classes we pride ourselves on offering individualised learning experiences.
Each student has a tailored learning plan that takes into account their specific strengths, challenges, and interests. We work alongside parents/carers, and external services to ensure each student’s plan is current and best supports their needs.
Smaller class sizes enable our specialised staff to provide focused attention and support, ensuring that every student feels valued and understood.
