Wellbeing
At our school, student wellbeing and learning go hand in hand. We want every student to feel safe, included and ready to learn. Whether your child needs help with their mental, emotional, social or physical wellbeing, we are here to help them thrive at school and in daily life.
Positive Behaviour for Learning
At our school, we are committed to fostering a positive and supportive learning environment through the Positive Behaviour for Learning (PBL) framework. Our students are encouraged to embody three core values in all aspects of their lives:
- Safe
- Respectful
- Learner
These values not only guide behaviour within the school but also help students make positive choices in the wider community.
PBL is an evidence-based approach that involves the entire school community working together to create a safe, inclusive, and respectful environment where every student can thrive. To strengthen this commitment, we have dedicated PBL leaders who lead a team that play a key role in engaging students and staff by creating informative PBL lessons and monitoring classroom expectations.
School Representative Council (SRC)
Our school SRC has one representative from each class - Year 2 to Year 5. They are elected by their class at the start of the year to serve on the SRC. They are given a special badge to wear during their period of office. The SRC meet every second week with the SRC teacher. Our SRC have organised fundraisers, surveyed students to make school improvements and hosted fun events for our students.
Student led teams
Authentic student leadership opportunities help students:
- work as a member of a team
- develop and build positive relationships, between peers and teachers
- contribute to the school community
- use their voice responsibly
- value the perspectives and opinions of others
- participate in decision-making.
How we support student wellbeing
Supporting each student’s mental, emotional, social and physical wellbeing is part of everyday school life.
We do this through:
- teachers who help students feel welcome and included
- access to school counsellors, school psychologists and specialist staff
- programs that support health, social skills, attendance and positive behaviour
- help for students who are new or changing year levels
- clear expectations for behaviour and respectful relationships
- staff who get to know each child and work closely with families
- developing health care plans for students
- open communication about wellbeing and support.
